Cruise Ships
During the 1990’s, the growth of the Disney Company continued. They were now beginning to enter waters that Walt and Roy O. Disney never encountered. They moved onto the Broadway stage, opened new theme parks, increased television production, and were now venturing into a cruise line, resulting in the launch of two Disney themed ships: the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic.
The Disney Magic was launched in 1998, and her sister site the Disney Wonder quickly followed in 1999. Each can carry 2,500 passengers, and needs a crew of 950 to look after everyone. They have everything you could wish for, from fitness centers, to spas, theaters and restaurants. One restaurant, the Animator’s Palate, diners start their hors d’oeurves in the black and white past of early cartoons. But while they are enjoying their meal, their surroundings become more and more colourful!
The cabins, restaurants, entertainment and play areas are all designed to create a unique at-sea Disney experience. And there’s a wealth of entertainment for all, from the sports fan to the party lover. Disney’s animated stars can be found aboard ship working and playing… sometimes in some very precarious situations!
